Confusion Reigns Over Toovey

Magpies management have unfortunatly traded one of the players that was to be involved in the Toovey trade to a rival club. Talks have stalled at this stage and may continue depending on what the Magpies management want to do. It is also rumoured that GB International Harvey Howard could also be on the way out.

Ken Mcguiness and Matt Seers sent packing

There have been a few rifts developing within the player ranks and management recently over the constant debate of who will be the captain for the season. Last night at a extraordinary board meeting it was decided that the board had no confidence in Seers and Mcguiness ability on the football park. They were put on the market and were quickly picked up by the Northern Barbarians and St. Ives Skyscrapers respectivly. Coach Rifle was pleased that the debacle had been settled and now wants to get down to playing good footy.

Hetherington Single Handedly Destroys Magpies

Jason Heatherington has single handedly destroyed the Magpies attack and defense. He came up with an unheard of 4 tries against a very patchy Magpies defence. The star for the Magpies was young Brett Hodgson. More details in the match report

Magpies look to the old-heads for leadership

The Magpies take on their first round opponents Wednesday Wolves at Lang Park on Friday Night. Latly the Magpies have been putting in very disappointing results against less fancied opposition and this will have to change if the Magpies want to win their first round clash. There are a few injuries for the Magpies camp, most notably, Brett Hodgson, Nigel Roy, Matt Seers and Harvey Howard. The inexperienced Magpies line-up will be looking to ET and Blacklock to steer them to victory. "We are in the midst of a bad injury run now. If we are to win, these guys need to step up and take on the Wolves team single handly." said a worried Coach Rifle.

Magpies Courting Geoff Toovey

Magpies Management have confirmed that they have been in negotiations with Chris Ryan to seek a release of Geoff Toovey so he can play for the Magpies this season. "We want him. Simple as that. We lack direction in the halves ever since Paul and Field left. No offence to Seers and Mcguiness, but they aren't of the same quality as Paul, Field or Toovey." quoted Magpies management. A decision on Geoff Toovey is expected next week.
